What is the SCIP database?

All actors who place articles containing substances of very high concern (SVHC) on the market in the EU must report them in the SCIP database of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The abbreviation SCIP stands for "Substances of Concern In articles, as such or in complex objects (Products)". Information from the database is made publicly available and is of particular interest to waste management companies and consumers. The database aims to improve knowledge about hazardous chemicals in articles and products during their use throughout their life cycle, including the waste phase.
