RadiPac centrifugal fans
in datacenters

Energy-saving cooling
with ebm‑papst centrifugal fans

Data center operators are faced with the challenge of cooling enormous amounts of waste heat due to the demand for ever-increasing computing power. It is therefore essential to equip cooling systems such as precision air conditioners or computer room air handlers (CRAH) with highly efficient components.

RadiPac radial fans are ideal for precision air conditioning units in data centers. They ensure a reliable, demand-based air supply while keeping energy consumption low. Thanks to optimized aerodynamics and innovative EC technology, they operate extremely efficiently and quietly. And, of course, the standard interfaces for intelligent control, such as 0–10 V/PWM and MODBUS-RTU, are already on board.

RadiPac radial fans offer the following advantages
in precision air conditioning units:

Benefit from maximum air performance with minimum space requirements—thanks to the high power density of the RadiPac.

Save time and effort during installation: the compact plug-and-play modules are ready for immediate use.

Experience maximum operational reliability and efficiency thanks to optimally coordinated system components.

Reduce your energy costs sustainably – through optimized aerodynamics and highly efficient EC motors.

Enjoy a pleasant working environment thanks to particularly quiet operation with minimized flow losses.

Flexibly adjust the air flow to your requirements with continuously adjustable EC fans.

Stay flexible as demand grows: The modular FanGrid solution allows for easy scaling of the delivery volume.

RadiPac with integrated 3-phase active PFC

Save yourself the need of external filtering measures

When multiple EC fans are operated in parallel, the permissible harmonic limits can quickly be exceeded. The problem: the resulting harmonics place a greater load on the supply network and cause losses due to reactive power. In addition, other devices in the system network can be negatively affected.

For operators, this previously meant that transformers and standby generators were oversized as a standard solution, or that mains chokes and passive harmonic filters were added. In both cases, this led to increased space requirements and higher installation and operating costs.

Minimize disruptive harmonics before they occur

You can save yourself all of these external measures. That's because ebm‑papst offers its RadiPac radial fans with integrated active PFC (power factor correction). With our solution, the current distortion achieves a THD(I) (total harmonic distortion of current) of ≤ 5% across a wide power range.

The benefits of our integrated 3-phase Active PFC:

Easy planning

Active PFC simplifies the dimensioning of emergency power supplies and electrical equipment (e.g., standby generators, transformers, mains filters, chokes, cable cross-sections, etc.).

Less effort and lower costs

No additional wiring is required (“plug & play”). You also save costs when designing the infrastructure components for the power supply and emergency power supply.

Safe operation

The technical connection conditions of the utilities are complied with – with a nearly ideal power factor of up to 0.998.
