Effective April 1, 2026, ebm‑papst has announced a leadership transition for its Air Technology Americas business. Franz Cerwinka has assumed the role of CEO Air Technology Americas of ebm‑papst US, succeeding Mark Shiring, who is transitioning into a new global position as Head of Regulatory & Public Affairs.

Mark Shiring, who has been with ebm‑papst for more than 30 years and led the Americas region since 2015, will now focus on navigating increasing regulatory complexity and strengthening the long-term strategic positioning of the ebm‑papst Group. His new role reflects the growing importance of regulatory topics and industry representation across global markets.

“After many successful years leading the Division Air Technology Americas, I am excited to transition my experience to the global level,” said Shiring. “Regulatory topics and industry representation are becoming increasingly important, and I see a strong opportunity to support ebm‑papst strategically while continuing to accompany the transition in the Americas.”

During Shiring’s tenure, the Americas region experienced significant transformation and growth. The organization expanded from a single location in Farmington, Connecticut, into a multi-site operation with enhanced manufacturing and operational capabilities. Key milestones included the establishment of a second facility in Telford, Tennessee (which is currently undergoing further expansion), the growth of the workforce to nearly 800 employees, and production scaling to approximately 20,000 motors per month.

Franz Cerwinka brings extensive international leadership experience across building controls, HVAC, and water sectors. In his new role, he will continue to advance the growth and development of the Americas business, building on the strong foundation established over the past decade.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to taking on this new role,” said Cerwinka. “Together with the team, my goal is to build on the existing foundation and further strengthen ebm‑papst’s position across the Americas. I especially value the close collaboration with Mark Shiring during the transition phase.”

Shiring will actively support the leadership transition, ensuring continuity and stability across the region while contributing his market knowledge, organizational insight, and extensive industry network. On April 1, both leaders marked the transition with a town hall in Farmington, Connecticut, where Shiring formally handed off leadership to Cerwinka, symbolically passing the “keys” to the Americas Growth Voyage.

With this transition, ebm‑papst reinforces its commitment to long-term leadership continuity and sustained growth in the Americas, a key region in the company’s global strategy.
