The leading international trade fair for transportation technology—the 15th InnoTrans—will take place in Berlin from September 22 to 25, 2026. ebm‑papst will present application-specific technologies for rail technology—from air conditioning to traction cooling—in Hall 3.1, Booth 380.

“HighSpeed” for rail applications

With its new turbo compressors, ebm‑papst is entering the field of HighSpeed compressor applications in the rail sector for the first time, enabling high power density in a compact design thanks to high rotational speeds. The compressors offer an efficient, controllable solution for targeted cooling and help optimize energy-intensive systems.

Robust and high-performance axial series

The AxiEco Track series was developed specifically for the requirements of railway technology and covers a wide performance range with sizes from 300 to 500 mm. Typical applications include condensers as well as electronics and inverter cooling. The combination of an aerodynamically optimized design, efficient EC technology and robust construction meets key requirements such as shock and vibration resistance, reliable as well as continuous operation, and compliance with relevant standards—for example, in fire protection and electromagnetic compatibility.

Centrifugal fans for high airflow rates

For air conditioning applications, ebm‑papst offers a tailored portfolio of centrifugal fans. The RadiCal 2 fans, available in sizes 190 through 280, feature an advanced three-dimensional blade geometry that results in lower energy losses, high airflow rates and that results in maximized efficiency. In addition, the RadiPac 3C, available in sizes 310 to 450, offers an efficient solution for high-performance applications—including the cooling of on-board inverters—with its aerodynamically optimized composite impeller, all while maintaining a reduced noise level.

High power density for traction cooling

With the RadiPac 3M, ebm‑papst is expanding its portfolio for high-performance applications. Encased in metal housing and available in size 450, outfitted with a 150 EC motor and 8 kW electronics, the fan is designed for cooling traction inverters. The robust design is suitable for use under the specific conditions of railway technology, offering high thermal load capacity, compact integration and reliable, continuous operation.

Focus on natural refrigerants

Railway technology has also seen increasing interest in the use of natural refrigerants—driven by regulatory requirements as well as efficiency and sustainability goals. ebm‑papst develops project-specific fan solutions for this purpose that enable safe integration into the overall system.
