Studied industrial engineering at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Franz joined Johnson Controls in 1994 in Mexico as a buyer and had a 24-year career with that company, where he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of procurement, account management, finance, and general management in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. These included the role of Vice President of Finance for several global business units, as well as CEO of Johnson Controls–Hitachi Air Conditioning in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2020, he was appointed Senior Vice President and President, Emerging Markets at Xylem in Singapore. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and President, Applied Water & Business Transformation, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Since 2026 he is CEO of ebm‑papst Americas Region for Air Technology.
