On June 2, 2026, the ebm‑papst Group officially opened its new facility in Oradea, Romania. With an investment of approximately 30 million euros, the global market leader in fans and motors has thus reached an important milestone in its “Local for Local” strategy and is specifically strengthening its proximity to customers and partners in Eastern Europe. At the same time, the company is underscoring its long-term commitment to the region with this project.
The new facility in the Oradea II Industrial Park brings together various functions under one roof. In addition to expanding production capacity, a research and development center has been established for the design and testing of new generations of fans, as well as a central service area to support the group’s international business processes.
“With this new facility, we are consolidating production, development, and services in Eastern Europe, thereby significantly enhancing our responsiveness to European customers,” says Frank Mayer, Chief Operations Officer of the ebm‑papst Group and CEO of Air Technology Europe.
The new facility in Romania is the result of the ebm‑papst Group’s strategic realignment in Eastern Europe. Following the sale of the IDT division to Siemens last year, the building previously used in Romania for air technology production was no longer available. With the new plant, ebm‑papst is deliberately creating a future-proof location that offers both current and future employees optimal conditions for collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth.
Over the next five years, the company plans to create additional jobs - particularly in the areas of production, service, and administration. Currently, ebm‑papst employs around 200 people in Romania.
“Oradea offers a strong environment with a skilled workforce and development potential. With the new site, we are creating attractive opportunities for our employees and we are growing together with the region,” says Delia Ungur, Managing Director of ebm‑papst Romania.
Construction of the site was completed within ten months on a plot of approximately 5.5 hectares. During planning and implementation, a special focus was placed on energy efficiency and sustainable land use.
These include, among other things, a smart building management system, photovoltaic modules for on-site power generation, and green spaces on the grounds.
The site also deliberately prioritizes modern work environments. In addition to functional production and development areas, employees have access to lounge and meeting spaces that promote interaction and enhance the company’s appeal as an employer.
With the new site in Oradea, ebm‑papst and we, as family shareholders, are making a clear long-term commitment to Eastern Europe,” explains Jan Philippiak, representative of the three ebm‑papst shareholder families. “The investment marks another milestone in the implementation of our ‘Local for Local’ strategy, through which we are further expanding our presence in our core regions of Europe, America, and APAC. In Oradea, we are bringing together production, innovation, and services in close proximity to our customers, thereby creating a strong foundation for sustainable growth, technological excellence, and skilled employment in the region.”
By expanding its activities in Oradea, ebm‑papst is simultaneously strengthening its regional value chain - from development to support throughout the entire product lifecycle - and increasing its market proximity and responsiveness to the needs of European customers.
