Whether it’s chillers, condensers, or recoolers—in refrigeration technology or data center cooling—manufacturers and operators face the challenge of combining high cooling capacity with maximum efficiency, low noise levels, and high operational reliability. To meet this challenge, ebm‑papst is expanding its AxiBlade series with the new 1030 mm AxiBlade.S.Perform model and the 1250 mm AxiBlade.S model.

The entire system is now in focus. Rather than considering the fan in isolation, ebm‑papst is optimally tuning the impeller, EC motor, shroud, electronics, and other components to the specific application. This allows for targeted improvements in efficiency, acoustics, and integration.

Greater flexibility and efficiency through a single-blade design

The new 1030 mm AxiBlade.S.Perform expands the series upward and is designed for applications that require a high airflow rate, flexible installation options, and a low noise level. It is based on a single-blade concept: The composite blades are mounted on a hub ring and can be manufactured at the factory in various angular positions. This allows airflow, pressure build-up, efficiency, and acoustics to be specifically tailored to the customer’s application, with airflow rates of up to 50,000 m³/h (free-blowing) or 32,000 m³/h at 330 Pa.

Focus on noise optimization

With the 1250 mm AxiBlade.S, ebm‑papst extends the single-blade concept to applications with particularly high airflow requirements. The large diameter enables high airflows of up to 58,000 m³/h (free-blowing) or 41,000 m³/h at 150 Pa, thereby supporting efficient and quiet overall systems. While the AxiBlade.S.Perform is designed for maximum integration flexibility with a composite material wall ring, the AxiBlade.S features a sheet metal wall ring with a protective cage. It is particularly suitable for large chillers, condensers, recoolers, and demanding data center applications, as well as for greenhouses, livestock barns, and transformer cooling.

Digital system integration

Drive technology, electronics, and digitalization are also part of the whole system approach. The new sizes are available with high-performance EC motors up to 8 kW, designed for ambient temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +70 °C depending on the model, and available with passive or active power factor correction. A MODBUS interface is provided as standard, allowing the fans to be integrated into ebm‑papst’s NEXAIRA digital ecosystem. This makes operational data accessible, increases transparency regarding efficiency and operational reliability, and enables digital services such as demand-based control or predictive maintenance.

Compliant and future-proof

For OEMs, the expanded AxiBlade series provides additional planning reliability: The fans fulfill all requirements of the Ecodesign Directive and the Fan Regulation (ErP 2026). At the same time, ebm‑papst provides support with documentation, verification, and certification. This new product, unveiled at Chillventa, demonstrates how efficiency, acoustics, digitalization, and regulatory requirements can be combined in an application-oriented fan solution.
