Manager Plant Logistics

Job Title:  Manager Plant Logistics
Department:  Logistics
Location: Telford, Tennessee

Summary: 
As Manager Plant Logistics you are part of the management team and report to the Plant Manager. You are responsible for directing and coordinating all internal and external Logistics related activities of the Plant.     

Essential Functions of the Job:
The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accomodations, to perform the following:

  • Participating in the establishment and deployment of standard processes, policies and procedures and you will be taking the necessary steps to ensure compliance
  • Managing and growing the Logistics department (currently 25+ employees, at least doubling in the next 2 years) and establishing efficient processes and procedures for the department
  • Within the department, you will be responsible for the following functional areas:
    • Material Handling
      • Establishing stabile processes to supply the production lines with raw materials and to transport finished goods to the warehouse.
      • Creating efficient and effective picking processes for individual components
      • Driving the continuous improvement process
    • Shipping and receiving:
      • Coordinating and scheduling all in- and outbound shipments
      • Optimizing inbound transportation routes
      • Ensure stability across the shipping and receiving process (e.g. Quality, Time, Inventory Accuracy, Cost)
      • Driving the continuous improvement process
  • Directing and controlling shipping, receiving, warehouse and material handling activities and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Hiring, leading and motivating your team in the Logistics Department in accordance with ebm‑papst’s polices and applicable laws. 
  • Exhibiting confidence in yourself and your staff. Resolving interdepartmental issues, accepting feedback and giving recognition. 
  • Reviewing current and future workload in order to plan work activities and adjust capacities and department structure where needed.
  • Coordinating the activities of the Logistics Department in conjunction with Customer Service, Purchasing and other Departments to ensure availability of merchandise.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of Logistics Technology and develop and implement process improvements and technologies to increase productivity in the Logistics Department.  
  • Maintaining ISO 9001 and other certification manuals and Coordinate Customs Compliance, including NAFTA certificates
  • Preparing and managing departmental budgets.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.  


As a supervisor you are responsible for:

  • Hiring new employees and for establishing the required training schedules. 
  • Overseeing the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Conducting performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.  
  • Handling discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy


Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers. 
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong experience with ERP and WM software, preferably AS400 and/or SAP
  • Proven track record in Lean Production and Continuous Improvement
  • Experience in ERP implementation projects is a plus

Recommended Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Minimum five years related experience, thereof three years of experience as a Manager or Supervisor
