Market Development Engineer – Appliance & Heating Markets

Job Title: Market Development Engineer – Appliance & Heating Markets
Department: Market Management 

Summary: 
This position is responsible for support of market development, account and project activities related to the sale of air movement solutions in the Appliance & Heating markets. The candidate should have an interest in pursuing a career in technical sales and marketing; to support the market manager with assigned commercial and technical tasks that grow market sales in residential and commercial boilers, hot water heaters, gas fireplaces, cooking, refrigeration, dishwasher, and ventilation appliances. Products include all types of motors, fans and specialty products; premix gas blowers, pneumatic and electronic gas-air ratio control gas valves, and digital burner controls. 

Essential Functions of the Job:
The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accomodations, to perform the following:

  • Position requires an equal effort in commercial and technical responsibilities (i.e. 50/50).
  • Commercial focus will be to support market and account development, interfacing with customers, field sales and customer service.
  • Technical focus will be to support project coordination including development of product, documentation, training, account support, interfacing with customers, application engineers, and German factories.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Commercial Responsibilities:

  • Travel – Up to 25% travel to customers, trade shows (North America & Europe), and industry trade meetings.

  • Sales & Marketing – Support role in development of markets, accounts, and products through sales leads, white papers, advertisements, product literature and presentations. Assist customer service, purchasing, marketing, and application engineering with product information for sales orders, purchase orders, website, catalog, and technical training.
  • Administrative – Submit monthly project, visit, and development reports, travel expenses, maintain factory price list, and project list.


Technical Responsibilities:

  • Products – Support selection, application, and troubleshooting of systems and components used in appliance and heating applications.
  • Project Management – Co-manage system and/or component projects with customers and factories, track progress, moderate conference calls, document meeting minutes and action items.
  • Testing & Training – Provide direction and support as needed to complete in-house customer appliance or component testing and product training.
  • Administrative – Coordinate maintenance of product information on the company AS400 for sales and engineering activities.
  • Use the following software programs when performing the job: MAC-PAC, Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word). 

Recommended Education and/or Experience:

Bachelors in Engineering
