Job Title: Design Engineer

Summary:
This position is responsible for conceptual designs, modeling and detail drawings of air mover components and assemblies.
Essential Functions of the Job:
The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:
- Organize and lead Design Review meetings. Record action items, assign tasks, track workflow, and close tasks upon completion.
- Input data into the AS/400 MRP system to develop Bill of Materials (BOM) product structure.
- Design prototypes using knowledge of manufacturing capabilities. Model prototypes in 3D using Creo. Identify critical tooling requirements and assist in the assembly of prototypes.
- Design components with consideration of appropriate manufacturing tolerances. Coordinate special order component requirements with the Sourcing Department.
- Create detailed drawings using Creo that convey the design requirements in accordance to published design standards.
- Use the following software programs when performing this job: Creo, Ansys, and MAC-PAC.
- Use math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Use one or all of the following when performing this job: Sheet Metal Flat Pattern Development, Bend Tables, Conceptual Design, Assembly Creation, Design Development, Materials, Plating/Painting, Bend Relieves, Tolerance Issues, Quality Initiatives, GDT Conversions, Drafting Skills, Drawing Conversion, Data Management, AS400 terminal usage, FEA, FMEA, Project Management, ECO processing.
- Determination of the scope of qualification of mechanical components
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Recommended Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 2 years of engineering design experience, including design methods, engineering materials, and associated manufacturing methods
