ebm-papst opens new Innovation Center - 6,6 million EUR invested

ebm-papst has significantly expanded its research and development area at its location in Landshut, Germany. Altogether 6.6 million EUR were invested in building an Innovation Center that will officially be opened on May 30, 2008.

"We are laying the foundation for further growth of the company with this investment," said Thomas Wagner, Managing Director of Production of the ebm-papst group.
The building, meant to serve as a kind of "think tank," comprises not only test rigs and laboratories but also the location's training workshop.

Of the over 500 development engineers in Germany, ebm-papst currently employs nearly 60 in Landshut; in many cases, they focus on energy efficiency. "To stay the proverbial one step ahead of the competition for the long term," Wagner says, "we continuously work at improving our fans and motors. The new building and its equipment will further strengthen our market leadership."

In 1997, the fan specialists in Mulfingen assumed control of the then subsidiary from Alcatel/SEL and reorganized it. Since then, the company's turnover for motors and fans designed for heating and household appliances has more than tripled, and is now 195 million EUR.

More than 60 guests from the political and business worlds are expected at the official opening next Friday. The employees and their families will dedicate the Innovation Center on Sunday with a large family festival.
