"In light of the predicted dearth of skilled manpower and the change in demographics, it is necessary to ease foreign workers into an occupation", explained Ralf Sturm. The head of HR at ebm-papst in Mulfingen has been seeking workers from abroad for some time now and considers the hiring of refugees in particular as an interesting option for both parties.

Sturm is currently holding talks with Robert Böhnel, the mayor of Mulfingen, with the office of the district of Hohenlohe, and with Syrians currently lodged in Mulfingen-Jagstberg.

Sturm is sure that "these people are often well educated and flexible". To better get to know these residents and their aspirations and to present the company and its culture, the personnel manager recently invited them to the site in Mulfingen. In addition to a presentation on the product range, fan production was explained to the visitors during a factory tour.

In a subsequent informational exchange, Sturm learned about the backgrounds and qualifications of the refugees, as well as the cruel twists of fate they have suffered.

"I think integration is only achieved when these people have the chance to establish their own livelihoods and are able to maintain themselves", said Sturm. "We are looking into occupational opportunities and their implementation".
