This money way raised by the 5th ebm-papst Christmas raffle, which was organised by hard-working trainees and youth representatives. In the raffle, gifts that had been given to employees by business partners over the course of the year were raffled off among all ebm-papst employees. The ebm-papst Managing Directors then doubled the amount raised from the sale of raffle tickets.

The 'Tafelladen' charity shops in Künzelsau and Bad Mergentheim each received donations of 3,000 euro. Every week, the volunteers here help to provide food at reduced prices for over 200 people in need. This food is mainly donated by local supermarkets. "In Künzelsau, the fridge recently broke down," explains Thomas Kallerhoff, director of the Diakonie welfare organisation in Künzelsau. "We will be able to use the money donated to buy a new energy-efficient fridge," Kallerhoff adds.

Birgit Gube tells us that the 'Tafelladen' in Bad Mergentheim is planning a conversion with separate entrance and exit. "This will enable us to make the waiting room larger," explains the social education worker from the Diakonie welfare organisation in the Main-Tauber district. "That will mean that our customers will no longer have to stand on the roadside in the future."

Youth and Trainees Representatives Denise Korschikowski und Marcel Haag presented 3,000 euro to Gabriele Kilian, general director of the 'Olgäle' foundation for sick children. The foundation has the objective of relieving the burden for often severely sick children and their parents. The foundation is committed to creating an environment that is suitable for children in the Olga Hospital ('Olgäle') in Stuttgart, offers child supervision while parents are absent and finances state-of-the-art medical equipment. Kilian intends to invest the money in a child-friendly design of the forthcoming rebuilding.

The ebm-papst youth representation is planning to hold another Christmas raffle in 2011, and will donate the proceeds to a charitable organisation.
