"Future Efficiency" - 200 customers were guests at the 3rd ebm-papst Innovation Forum

At the two-day Innovation Forum on "Future Efficiency" held in Mulfingen, Germany, the fan specialist ebm-papst Group showed that it has been a world leader in energy efficiency for years. Over 200 customers from Germany and adjacent Europe accepted the invitation and discussed the latest industry developments and future trends.

Dr. Bruno Lindl, Managing Director of Research and Development for the ebm-papst Group, welcomed about 200 customers to the Innovation Forum on "Future Efficiency"

From technical and expert contributions, it has become clear that the topic of energy efficiency is already a determinant for many areas of industry and power engineering. For companies, such as Rational, which specialises in ovens, Rittal in control cabinets, Güntner in refrigeration technology, Viessmann Werke in heat pumps and Weiss Klimatechnik und Wolf in air-conditioning applications - energy efficiency is the number-one issue for sustainability.

"About three out of ten nuclear power plants could be shut down with immediate effect if all motors and fans, without exception, were to be replaced with energy saving EC motors and EC fans", stated Dr. Bruno Lindl, Managing Director of Research and Development at the ebm-papst Group.
Not only that, but these electrically controlled products would also lower clients' operating costs considerably, and they are significantly easier to control, considerably quieter and clearly more reliable than conventional motors and fans.

Dr. Lindl imaged that, in the medium term, money could only be made with "green" energy saving products. This led to a single objective for his some 500 engineers and technicians at the German Research and Development locations in Mulfingen, St. Georgen and Landshut: every new product had to be more efficient than the model that preceded it.

Among other projects, ebm-papst is currently working on optimising fan blades by applying new materials and designs. "There are great potential savings to achieve in the future", said Alfred Müller, ebm-papst's Sales Manager in Germany. Based on positive feedback, Müller is planning to hold an Innovation Forum in 2011 as well.
