Peter Bertling from Deutsche Bank Mannheim presents Hans-Jochen Beilke, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of the ebm-papst Group, with the trophy and the certificate signed by German Federal President Horst Köhler.

The company with its "HyBlade®" fan technology is one of the prizewinners of the Germany-wide innovation competition "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas".

"Most fans are noisy and use too much power," emphasised Bertling at the awards ceremony. "This is not true of the innovative fans from ebm-papst. In particular, the newly developed 'HyBlade®' stands out due to its low power consumption and low background noise. The rotor blades are made of plastic with inserted aluminium reinforcement, and are also easily recyclable. Thus, the 'HyBlade®' makes an important contribution to our ecological future."

"We are observing a growing willingness to buy energy-saving products," says Hans-Jochen Beilke. "Companies that have specialised in energy-efficient technologies should have a significant advantage in the current economic crisis," Beilke adds with optimism.

The "HyBlade®" fan was selected in 2009 from more than 2,000 submitted applications by an independent jury to be an ambassador for the "Land of Ideas." The fourth annual event of the series is being held jointly by Deutsche Bank and the "Germany – Land of Ideas" nation-branding initiative under the patronage of German Federal President Horst Köhler. "The creativity, skill and knowledge, and passion of the 'Selected Landmarks 2009' form the inventive backbone that makes Germany the Land of Ideas. Every day we see how the Germany-wide network of ideas is growing thanks to the enormous potential that can be found in this region," states Bertling, substantiating Deutsche Bank's commitment.

About the "Germany - Land of Ideas" initiative
The "Germany - Land of Ideas" initiative was called into being on the occasion of the 2006 Football World Cup. The initiative is sponsored by the German government and commerce and industry, represented by the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and is under the patronage of German Federal President Horst Köhler.
The objective of the initiative is to emphasise Germany's strengths as a location for business and industry and to illustrate essential characteristics of the German people such as imagination, creative passion and visionary thinking.
"365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" is one of the initiative's projects. Every year, an independent jury selects 365 "landmarks" where future-oriented ideas are developed, promoted and actively implemented. On each day of the year, a "Selected landmark" presents itself and its idea to the public by organising an event.
