We’re driven by a desire to provide our customers with the right solution for every challenge. With our powerful FanScout selection software, you can quickly and easily choose the ideal product for your exact requirements from our extensive product range. The search options include parallel fan operation in so-called FanGrids. Try it out. A trial version of FanScout is available for download. The software can be easily integrated into your device configuration program using the DLL interface.

We'll be happy to provide you with sets of products tailored to your challenges. Simply contact your ebm-papst representative. We'll provide an initial selection of suitable products for your use case, so you can get the job done even faster.

Ultra-precise data. Perfect decisions.

With ebm-papst FanScout, you get data that are absolutely reliable and, above all, ultra-precise, because our software is based on real-world measurements. Not only the output of the individual fan components is measured, but also that of the fan as a complete "wire-to-air" system.
Confirmed by TÜV SÜD, which has assigned the accuracy of our calculations with respect to actual measurements to the highest accuracy class. Not only can you quickly find the best solution for your use case, you can also simulate various operating scenarios that take the fans' operating points, operating times and space requirements into account to provide you with an estimate of annual energy consumption. ebm-papst's FanScout has proven itself with these capabilities and its user-friendliness.

To make the decision even easier for you, ebm-papst FanScout also takes life cycle costs into account: the purchase price and the operating and service costs.

From the application to the right fan

For both centrifugal and axial fans, in the end a suitable and energy-efficient selection is what counts. So being able to select from among all the fans that come into question is important. To ensure that the operating characteristics of the selected fan also apply in practice, the data used by ebm-papst FanScout are based on exact measured values – so you can be certain in your planning.

The benefits at a glance:

  • Operating point can be positioned anywhere in the characteristic diagram
  • Dynamic display of operating data in operating points
  • Comparison of different fan types
  • Display and print operating and nominal data
  • Display of constant efficiency curves and similar characteristic curves
  • Calculation of life cycle costs

How system selection works for multiple fans operating in parallel – FanGrids

Economical operation is key to reducing energy costs, especially for systems with multiple fans operating in parallel, so ebm-papst FanScout now also includes a unique selection feature for FanGrids that you can use to quickly choose the most energy-efficient fan combination from our product range.

The benefits at a glance:

  • Selection from as many as five different operating points
  • Limiting the permitted number of fans in a FanGrid
  • Specification of the space available for the FanGrid
  • Accounting for redundancy requirements
  • Calculation and comparison of life cycle costs

1. Operating parameters

In the past, FanGrids were often designed based on the operating point with the highest air flow (maximum operating point); however, since this is seldom reached, with ebm-papst FanScout you can specify up to five different operating points. For each operating point, you provide the operating time in hours per year. Other information includes the required static pressure increase of the fans and the overall system air flow,

followed by the desired redundancy. The redundancy specifies how many fans can be switched off without falling below the required air flow. The remaining fans compensate for the difference by changing their speed.

Finally, you specify the amount of space available for installation of the fans.

2. Further information

ebm-papst FanScout also offers optional search parameters: the fan type and the number of fans installed.

3. Results list

Based on the parameters entered (operating points, desired level of redundancy, installation space, etc.), ebm-papst FanScout determines the most energy-efficient FanGrid combination. The list shows the performance and efficiency of annual energy consumption, sorted in ascending order. The most efficient combination is listed first and displayed in green.

4. Characteristic curve

The fan combination selected in the results list is displayed as a characteristic curve at maximum modulation. The specified operating points are also shown, with their size representing the proportion of operating time.

5. Noise

For the selected fan combination, the sound level of the individual operating points is shown for a fan; you can specify whether at the intake or outlet side.

6. Performance and efficiency

Both the power consumption and the static efficiency at each operating point are shown in the diagrams so you can quickly get the overall picture.

7. Cost overview

The calculated operating points are supplemented by the operating time in years and the energy cost per kilowatt-hour, which are used to determine the basic operating costs. After you enter the costs for purchase, installation and service, the overall costs of the FanGrid over time are displayed: reliable information for better decisions.
