Compact external rotor motor with integrated control electronics
Compact drives are popular for use in industrial automation as well as for conveyor, storage and sorting systems and not least in medical engineering and the textiles industry. VDC external rotor motors from ebm-papst St. Georgen are designed on a modular basis and can so be ideally assembled to suit these various applications.

With a minimum space requirement they can offer high output and breakaway torque combined with reliability and a long service life. Thanks to a great overload capacity and the new K4 control electronics with simple parameterisation, the drives are perfect for applications demanding maximum reliability. The new model VDC-3-49.15-K4 is now available with innovative K4 electronics which can be parameterised and regulated by way of the PC software "Kickstart" with its simple and intuitive operation. This permits uniform control of all ebm-papst motors with integrated K4 and K5 electronics by the customer. Three operating modes (speed, positioning and torque mode) are possible. Smooth, quiet running with a high overload capacity and outstanding efficiency is achieved by way of sinusoidal commutation. The motor is available with a nominal voltage of either 48 or 24 VDC and a nominal speed of 4000 rpm. With a diameter of just 63 mm and a length of 52 mm the motors are extremely compact and suitable for a wide variety of applications. They are easy to combine with the renowned planetary and crown (bevel) gear units from Zeitlauf and are thus in keeping with the modular concept. These efficient gear units cover a broad reduction range between 6.7 and 33.3:1 for bevel and 3.2 and 30:1 for planetary versions.
