The idea of donating a wind tunnel to the German Museum arose during the presentation of the Diesel Medal in October of 2008 in Munich. Gerhard Sturm, the founder of the ebm-papst Group and current Chairman of the Advisory Board, was honoured with this high distinction for inventors. Together with ebm-papst Group Managing Director Dr Bruno Lindl, he presented the exhibit to Stephan Dietrich, Director of the German Museum.

For the seventh time now, ebm-papst held the Inventors' Week for eight to ten-year-old schoolchildren in Mulfingen. As in past years, the holiday programme attracted a high level of interest. Only about one-third of the children who applied could take part in the programme, which is based on an initiative of the "Innovationsregion Kocher und Jagst e.V.," an association of companies in the region.
