Offer for the whole family - 15th ebm-papst Marathon includes children's races for the first time

ebm-papst and the Hohenlohekreis police sports club expect 3,000 runners at the 15th ebm-papst Marathon in Niedernhall. For the first time, this will include a large number of children competing in the mini-marathon of 4.2 km, the mini-half-marathon of 2.1 km or the 'bambini' marathon, a distance of 420 metres.

Attractive offer for big and small. On 11 and 12 September the ebm-papst Marathon will be taking place for the 15th time in Niedernhall.

"We thus have something for the big and the small", explains ebm-papst press spokesman Hauke Hannig. "Our marathon will thus be even more a sporting event for the whole family."

The international running and walking festival begins on Saturday, 11 September, at 3 p.m. with Nordic walking in Niedernhall's Bachwiesental. Participants can choose between a 7 km and a 12 km course.

On the main event day, Sunday, 12 September, the marathon and duo-marathon runners will start at 8.30 a.m., followed by the competitors in the 10 km race and the half-marathon. The handicapped sportsmen and women in their fast racing chairs will set off from 12.00, and the children's races will start from 1.30 p.m.

The last starting signal will be given at 2.45 p.m. for the inline skaters, whose 25 km course is mainly on the closed Kochertalstrasse.

The start fees will again this year be lower than for other events, thanks to the almost 30 volunteer helpers and the support of the co-organiser ebm-papst. For early bookers registering by 30 July, the start fees will be between 5 € (children's races/Nordic walking) and 20 € (marathon). For those registering online at www.ebmpapst-marathon.de the early-booking discount will apply until 3 September.

The fan specialist is also organising the framework programme at the Niedernhall festival grounds and in the party tent near the open-air swimming pool. On both days a fair will provide a great deal of information on running. Children's fun will be guaranteed by the climbing frame, bungee trampoline, bouncy castle, pirates' climbing net and pony riding, as well as the sponsored race. Specialities from the region will be provided by Hohenlohe clubs.
